Top Attractions in Indianapolis:

1. A Romantic gondola ride, you heard right!
No need to go to Venice to enjoy a romantic gondola ride! The gondola rides are typically offered along the Indianapolis Canal Walk, which runs through downtown Indianapolis. The walk is a beautiful urban waterway lined with pathways, parks, and fountains. We chose the private gondola ride and brought a bottle of wine to enjoy. During your ride, you’ll see landmarks such as the Indiana State Museum, The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art and The White River State Park. What was really impressive to learn is that the gondoliers train for years, and serenade you as you are gently rowed along the canal. And guess what?! This does not even happen in Venice! The gondoliers there do not sing at all, so this was an extra special experience in Indy.

2. White River State Park
This sprawling urban park offers scenic trails, lush green spaces, and cultural attractions like the Indiana State Museum, Eiteljorg Museum, and Indianapolis Zoo. It’s perfect for a day of outdoor fun and exploration. We loved renting a kayak here and exploring the White River with epic city views!

3. Monument Circle
Located in the heart of downtown, Monument Circle is a stunning centerpiece featuring the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Walk around during the day and night for charming views! Climb to the observation deck for panoramic views of the city.

5. Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields
Art lovers will be inspired by the vast collection of artwork, beautiful gardens, and outdoor installations at Newfields. The grounds also host seasonal events, such as Winterlights and Harvest Nights.

Where to stay in Indianapolis

InterContinental Hotel Indy
We loved our stay at the InterContinental Hotel Indy for so many reasons. To start with, it is located so close to Monument Circle that you can see it from the hotel. The hotel has a very well known rooftop bar, restaurant and luxury accommodations. We loved the valet service as well!

Best Places to Eat in Indianapolis

1. Restoration Hardware Indy
This is our favorite spot in Indy! Located at RH Indianapolis, a 151-acre Palladian-style estate, The Dining Room is a dramatic lakeside restaurant featuring a thoughtfully curated menu of elegant classics, along with a selection of Champagnes and fine wines. Dine in an immersive space with soaring windows, a lighting installation by master glass designer, Alison Berger, and mesmerizing views of the lake and surrounding landscape.

2. Modita
This is my top choice if you are prioritizing flavor! Wowza! I once drove all the way from Chicago to Indy just to have dinner here. One of my all time favorite restaurants!

3. Milktooth
This trendy brunch spot has gained national recognition for its inventive takes on breakfast classics. Try the Dutch Baby pancakes or the Sorghum Glazed Bacon.

4. Shapiro’s Delicatessen
A staple since 1905, Shapiro’s serves up mouthwatering deli sandwiches, hearty soups, and decadent desserts. The corned beef on rye is a local favorite.
